MACROGENOME PROJECT™

The Macrogenome Project is Macroknow's intellectual analogue of the Genome Project. It is to the thinking mind what the Genome Project is to living matter. The project's domains include philosophy, political economy, law, science, and theology (Mosaic-Solomonic, Hindu-Vedic, Taoistic, Buddhist, Confucian, Christian, Gnostic, and Islamic).

The inspiration for the Macrogenome Project is Leibniz's deep insight into the nature of the soul as genetic seed and law.

PROJECT GOALS

  1. To map the entire intellectual genetic structure of the dominant philosophies and worldviews that shape our world.

  2. To identify, scrutinize, and compare the ideas, concepts, notions, and thought species and subspecies that make up the dominant philosophies that underlie current policies and legislation. To identify common substructures.

  3. To discover, characterize, and categorize the codes, structures, lineages, and variants of the thought species; and to correlate these with origins, intents, and effects.

  4. To locate, characterize, and catalogue defects in logic and intellection; and to correlate, cross-link, and cross-reference the defects with associated political disorder, social diseases, and economic conflicts and destruction.

  5. To build taxonomic, structure, and modeling databases for grounding philosophies. And to develop analytical tools and expert systems to model, simulate, and predict the outcomes of policies from their genomic structure and associated probabilistic confidences.

  6. To issue timely political, economic, and financial alerts and advisories to political, business, and community leaders.

  7. To promote the worldviews that benefit humankind, especially philosophies that promote and secure authentic freedom and wealth for all.

The Macrogenome Project is an ongoing Macroknow project. The project will generate several open Internet resources. General findings and conclusions will be available to people with access to the Internet free of charge. For a sample Macroknow Education Resource, see the Macroknow Library.

Sophisticated intellection technologies, databases, expert systems, and intelligence systems are commercialized. For Macroknow Services, see http://www.macroknow.com/services.htm.

METHODOLOGY

CRITICAL ISSUES

The Macroknow Intellectual Intelligence™ methodology addresses three critical issues:

  1. How to define and represent the State of the World -- People's Global State of Mind and World Events,
  2. How to measure the State of the World (what people value and desire), and
  3. How to deliver the intelligence about the State of the World to intelligence consumers in corporations and in governments.

THE WORLD AS MARKETPLACE FOR IDEAS

In stock markets, indices are used to measure the State of the Market. The indices measure market activity and stock price, by company and by industry.

Macroknow Intelligence, like stock markets, uses indices to measure the State of the World. The indices measure people's concerns by theme or topic (and by intellectual giant and field of study).

State of the Market State of the

METHODOLOGICAL STEPS

The methodological steps used in Macroknow Intelligence are as follows:

  1. Research, identify, and distill the essences of the major Ideas in economics, literature/criticism, military theory, philosophy, science, and theology. The essences (the seeds and the genetic structure) of the major philosophies are collected in the form of essential quotes and text fragments. The Macroknow universe of intellectual giants spans the gamut from Aquinas and Aristotle to John von Neumann and Howard Zinn. It includes widely known intellectuals (philosophers, economists, social critics, prophets, sages, psychoanalysts, historians, and scientists) representing a broad range of political, economic, and philosophical viewpoints.

  2. Develop a global classification structure for the Ideas and their underlying philosophical essences. The identified topics in the classification structure correspond to the variables of the State of the World:

    • Autonomy: Freedom and Slavery
    • Ethics: Good and Evil
    • Logic: Truth and Deceit
    • Justice: Law and Justice
    • Economics/Finance: Bankers, Debt, Capitalism, Free Trade, Money
    • Scie&Tech: Arithmetic (Calculative Thinking), Science, and Technology
    • Theology: Religion

  3. Build web-enabled knowledge bases that capture the philosophical essences by author and by topic. The knowledge bases contain the essences distilled in Step 1, and are organized using the Macroknow global classification structure developed in Step 2.

  4. Develop sensitive intellection sensors that measure and track the variables of the State of the World over the Internet. Collect, process, and store the intelligence data in the web-enabled databases.

  5. Monitor major world events (social, political, and economic) and correlate them with the variables of the State of the World. The index for each topic is updated daily and the index for each giant is updated monthly. The temporal distributions of the derived indices are correlated with major world events. Three categories of psychometric indices are derived:

    • Global Topics Indices. These measure people's concerns by topic. Together they define the State of the World.
    • Global Giants Indices. These measure people's interests in the giants' Ideas. From the highest ranked giants, you can determine the major Ideas that are moving the world.
    • Global Uncertainty, Economic Vulnerability, and Terrorism Alert Indices. These are experimental and exploratory measures derived from the Global Topics Indices. The Economic Vulnerability Indices can be used as leading indicators of opportunities for catastrophic terrorism -- as such, they are Terrorism Alert Indices.

  6. Deliver the indexes for the State of the World directly to the desktop of the information or intelligence consumer. Macroknow delivers intelligence about the State of the World in several forms:

    • Electronic publications. These offer vital intellectual intelligence indexes and news that supplement market indexes and news:
      • People's awareness and attention levels
      • People's feelings, emotions, and irrational exuberance or gloom
      • People's thought streams
      • The objects of people's thoughts -- correlated with business, financial, economic and world news, and
      • Security threat assessments.
    • Visualization charts. These give you an integrated picture of the State of the World and its landscape.
    • Databases. These give you the historical indices, their components, and associated correlations, in combination with information and news about world events..
    • Analytical dashboards. These can be used to generate a rich variety of analytical, statistical, and intelligence data for publication.

BETA TESTING

OBJECTIVES

The MI2 System and the Much Mind/Mind Chronicle/Histories Electronic Publications offer vital intellectual intelligence, indexes, and news. The system must be robust, reliable, expandable, and easy and inexpensive to maintain. The publications must be highly useful, of top quality, and, except for editing, automated.

BETA 1

BETA 1 testing was completed in 2005. The testing focused on the MI2 System, its Operation, and Maintenance. Technical issues included:

  • Integrity,
  • Robustness,
  • Reliability,
  • Maintainability,
  • Flexibility,
  • Automation, and
  • Scalability.

BETA 2

BETA 2 testing will be completed in 2007. The testing focuses on Much Mind, Mind Chronicle, Histories, and the information and intelligence needs of the Subscriber. Business issues include:

  • High information utility,
  • Intelligence quality,
  • Efficiency of global editions, and
  • Effectiveness of online delivery.

BETA 3

BETA 3, the final testing phase, will start in 2008. The testing will focus on branded Global Macroknow Media Services.

  • Macroknow Indexes: Global Psychological, Market, Economic, Political, and Security Indexes,
  • Macroknow News and Information Services: Global Awareness and Attention Services to Financial, Business, Government, and Military professionals worldwide,
  • Macroknow Alert Services, including Psychological Alert, Stock Market Alert, Economic Alert, and Security/Terrorism Alert Services, and
