The Histories.
THE JEWS
" .
. . Egypt was once plagued by a wasting disease . . . So Pharaoh
Bocchoris went to the oracle. . . and was told to purify his
kingdom by expelling the victims . . . Thus a multitude of
sufferers was . . . abandoned in the wilderness. . . Moses,
urged his companions not to wait passively for help from god or
man, for both had deserted them . . . They traveled . .
. and on the seventh [day] they expelled the previous
inhabitants of Canaan, and took over their lands and in
them built a holy city and temple."1a
HERZL
SCHAFER
" . . . The other
practices of the Jews are sinister and revolting, and have
entrenched themselves by their very wickedness. Wretches of the
most abandoned kind . . . took to contributing dues and
free-will offerings to swell the Jewish exchequer; and
other reasons for their increasing wealth may be
found in their stubborn loyalty and ready benevolence towards
brother Jews. But the rest of the world they confront with
the hatred reserved for enemies."1b

SCHAFER
" . . . These kings
. . . regained control by force, setting up a reign of terror
which embraced . . . the banishment of fellow-citizens,
the destruction of cities, and the murder of
brothers, wives and parents. The kings encouraged the
superstitious Jewish religion, for they assumed the office of
High Priest in order to buttress their regime."1c
"The majority were
convinced that . . . the Orient would triumph and from
Judea would go forth men destined to rule the world."1d

AYOUB'S BRIEF CRITIQUE
Unfortunately, not much has changed since Tacitus. And
Nietsche's
"eternal return of the same" continues to plague both Jews and
Gentiles.
-
Palestinians continue to
resist a nasty Israeli occupation
and accuse Israel of stealing their
lands.
-
Oppressed and mired in
abject nihilism, many young Palestinians, including young women,
become suicide bombers -- for them, terrorism is
martyrdom against Satan and his injustice.
-
Guided by Hammurabi's eye-for-an-eye law, Israel continues to assassinate Palestinian
leaders (with missiles).
-
Many
accuse a
neo-conservative
"cabal"
of manipulating the United States
for Israel's benefit; and many believe that "the Jews rule the world by
proxy."
-
Oligarchs of Jewish
provenance are accused of tax evasion, fraud,
and theft in
Russia.
-
Many fear that Israeli stockpiles of weapons of mass
destruction, including nuclear warheads, are a threat to
international security.
-
Anti-Israeli feelings
are rampant around the
globe. Many Europeans believe
that Israel constitutes the greatest threat to peace
in the world.
One might be tempted to
conclude with an analogy. "Radical Judaists"
were to the Roman empire what "radical Islamists"
are to the U.S. Rome occupied Palestine and destroyed the
Temple; U.S. forces occupy Iraq and destroy Saddam Hussein's
statues. Ironically, both Jews and Muslims are direct
descendents of the same Abraham.
Hegel is
right -- even if
Popper
despised his "historicism": "peoples and
governments never have learned anything from history"
and "[n]ations are what their deeds are."
